Félix Kama (b. 1961)

Félix Kama was born in Komo, Cameroon, and lives in Stuttgart. He is a playwright, director, and actor. In 1989 he founded the Theátre International de Yaoundé together with other artists in Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon; in 1995 he directed “Bena Zingui” there. In 1996 he was invited to Germany for a scholarshop at Akademie Schloss Solitude. He attracted attention with his lyrical piece of prose called “Minkul Mi Nem” (Dreams in Desert Colors) and was hired by the Theaterhaus Stuttgart, where he could be seen in numerous productions as an ensemble member through 2013. His play “Wo ist besser” (Where Is Better) was praised internationally. Félix Kama enjoys close ties with the Cameroon theater scene, which he writes for. In his texts, he speaks about his experiences between cultures, about the shifts in perspective that are engendered by migration. He describes the change in perception, in the gaze trained on oneself and the society in which one lives, and he comments on his observations with critical, constructive humor.
